Gift - Darkness Manipulation
The ability to create, shape and manipulate darkness.
One day, Zoey will be able to create darkness to work with, shape and manipulate it as well as solidify it to use as a physical weapon. At present, however, she can't do any of that: her power manifests only sporadically, cloaking her in shadows for a period of time. Functionally, this turns her invisible, but she can't control when it occurs or how long it lasts, and it inevitably ends with her regaining visibility and falling unconscious for a period of time, anywhere between a few hours to a full day.
Personality
Zoey is, in a word, adaptable. She plays whatever part she needs to for the current situation. Somewhere along the line, though, she feels like she lost her own personality - sometimes she doesn't even feel like a person. Her gift doesn't help with that, since she has little control over it and all it does is let her hide from the world around her, seeming to fade from existence for a time.
On the surface, she's usually pleasant and polite, and never takes a step out of line, though she often seems hesitant to speak about herself. Under that quiet facade, however, she's bitter and resentful toward the world around her, but feels like she has no right to complain.
It's only a matter of time, though, until she can no longer hide her true feelings about Beata Academy and Rivers Pointe as a whole.
Appearance
Zoey is pale-skinned to the point where she sometimes seems almost ghostly, with long lilac hair and blue eyes. Though she doesn't have any tattoos, she does have a vertical scar over her left eye. Once upon a time she tried covering it with makeup, but after arriving at Beata decided it was too much work. Usually she has a pair of sunglasses on her face that mostly cover it.
When not in her uniform, she's usually dressed in baggy purple and black clothes, hoodies and sweatpants.

Gift - Light Manipulation
The ability to create, shape and manipulate light.
Though her power is far stronger than her father's, it's also strictly visual. She can create her own light and shape and manipulate it however she likes, using it to create illusions or distractions or simply a light source in an uncomfortably dark place, but she can't solidify it, which means it's useless as a weapon. That isn't to say it's useless offensively, however: with time and practice, her illusions will likely become incredibly useful as support in dangerous situations as long as she's not caught alone. And if she is, well... That's what her hammer is for.
At present, she can only manipulate pre-existing light, and can only use it to create small illusions and visual effects (things like sparkles or tracing letters in the air). Trying to do more than one at a time exhausts her, and usually ends with her sleeping for at least twelve hours. So far, trying to do anything more intense than that ends in complete and utter failure (as well as a few hours of incredibly unpleasant unconsciousness).
Using her power at all takes a decent amount of energy (thankfully she seems to have plenty to spare), but when she has overexerted herself the side effects are worse than just feeling tired. She'll often lose consciousness for a time, but when she manages to stay conscious she tends to have hallucinations. The contents of these hallucinations vary widely.
Personality
Though she often fails to understand sarcasm and often seems a little confused, clumsy and just a little bit slow to grasp certain concepts, Stella isn’t quite as naive as she sometimes appears to be. She does, however, understand the value of spreading kindness. It’s incredibly rare for anything harsh or cruel to leave her mouth, and when she thinks of something nice she doesn’t hesitate to say it, even if it seems odd or off-topic.
She's incredibly energetic, with seemingly boundless enthusiasm and optimism. Often easily distracted, she struggles to focus on more than one thing at a time. She’s also often too trusting, taking pretty much anyone at face value the first time she meets them. Overall, she believes the world is full of good and honest people who only want to make it a better place, even if she knows they’re not the only kind of people that exist.
Appearance
Stella is fair-skinned, with gray eyes and long blonde hair that's usually tied back in a ponytail with a colored ribbon and a lock of loose hair on each side framing her face.
She's almost always wearing several accessories, such as sparkly butterfly hairclips, heart-shaped clip-on earrings and candy bracelets. If not in her uniform and not doing anything especially active, she's usually in dresses, blouses and skirts. If she's doing physical activities, however, she wears a hoodie and sweatpants.

Miles Robinson [Father] Stella loves her father dearly, but she also wants to try being a little more independent, which is why she's opted to board at Beata instead of living at home during her time at the academy. That said, she does make time to visit both him and her siblings, and any interactions between herself and her father typically start with a hug. She understands that he just wants to keep them all safe, but she also wants to explore and venture out into the world. (Miles' kindness is alive and well in Stella, but her drive to explore and discover new things is entirely her own.) Annalise Robinson [Mother, deceased] Since she died when she was young, Stella doesn't know much about her mother. What she does is what she's heard from her father's stories, or seen in videos and photo albums. Overall, Stella greatly admires her mother, and wants to be someone she'd be proud of. Lucas Robinson [Twin Brother] Stella's duty as eldest twin and 'big sister' is something she takes very seriously. Lucas has always been shy and somewhat anxious, and from a young age Stella has done her best to step in and protect him when he needs it. As they've gotten older, though, she's started encouraging him to stand up for himself more. Lark Robinson [Sister] Nathaniel Robinson[ Cat] Stella has an interesting relationship with Nathaniel. He was a stray that she found one evening. She brought him home and begged her father to let her keep him until he gave in, with the usual promise children give of caring for him herself (though she's actually done a pretty good job of it, with occasional reminders). Ever since that day, the cat has seemingly conspired to mess up everything she owns: knocking things over, sleeping in her drawers, or stealing food off her plate if she leaves it for more than a few moments. For the most part, she doesn't seem to mind, declaring that it's how he shows his love and appreciation. In return, she showers him with praise and compliments in addition to playful insults she would probably never use on anyone else. She has a system for informing him how annoyed she is with him: calling him Nate means she isn't really bothered, Nathan means she's mildly irritated, and Nathaniel means he's found some way to genuinely upset her. Nathaniel Robinson, his full name, is only used when she is truly furious.

Miles' gift is incredibly simple in practice. He can generate his own light, form it into whatever shape he likes, and keep it in place. To do so, however, takes constant focus and concentration; especially if he's trying to do so for an extended period of time. Typically he uses it for practical things, like walking in dark places, but he's usually willing to do a demonstration if someone asks.
Though the side effects for using his gift in moderation are minimal as an adult, if he somehow overdoes it (something he tries very hard to avoid doing) he invariably wakes up several hours later to find himself suffering from exhaustion and dealing with hallucinations.
Personality
Miles is cheerful, gentle and polite, and has a protective streak when it comes to injustice (especially toward those he cares most about). Those traits are especially evident when he's around children. Something about them makes him want to help somehow, in whatever little ways he can. That's what initially drove him to become a teacher (well, that and his passion for literature).
He relies heavily on planning and schedules (though some spontaneity is welcome) and gets uncomfortable if he's thrown off somehow. Though he's gained something of a spine with age (especially when others are involved), he's still unable to stand up for himself more often than not. He's been especially hard on himself since his wife's death, blaming himself for it (as well as the series of events he believes led to it). Whenever something goes wrong, the first thing he tends to do is shift the blame to himself, whether or not it makes sense to do so. He's also notoriously bad at self-care, often failing to get enough sleep or meet his own needs.
Appearance
Miles is fair-skinned, with permanently messed-up blonde hair. He's usually wearing his reading glasses, and they're almost always noticeably crooked. If left to his own devices, he wears sweaters and sweatervests almost exclusively, bar the occasional event that requires formal attire. In addition, everything he owns is absolutely covered in pet hair (an unfortunate side effect of living in a home that, until recently, housed three children, two dogs and a cat).

Annalise Robinson [Wife, deceased] Annalise was Miles' first and, so far, only love. They met at Beata Academy, became fast friends and then something more, and ended up building a life together. Everything was great: they had an apartment, it wasn't much but it was enough for them, up until Annalise's illness got the better of her. Miles was left with three children to raise and a whole lot of grief, but he carries the positive memories he has of her everywhere he goes. Her kindness, spontaneity, how she tried to make even the worst things good. He keeps photo albums close at hand, and a picture of the two of them with their children (the only one he has of all of them together) on his desk. Stella Robinson [Daughter] Stella is, in many ways, the child that reminds Miles of Annalise the most. She strives to be kind, to make the world a better place, to fight in the name of things that are right and just and good, and refuses to accept anything less. He worries, though, because she's energetic and spontaneous and loves nothing more than the concept of grand adventures. He worries about her getting hurt, yes, but the thing that haunts him most is something else. The fear that one day, she'll wave goodbye from the doorway, take off into the sunset and that he'll never see her again. He was reluctant to even let her board at Beata, but eventually relented to her arguments with the promise that she visit home often. Lucas Robinson [Son] Miles sees a lot of himself reflected in his son. It's something that worries him if he lets himself think about it too much, wondering what kind of paths he might get dragged down if he can't stand up for himself. While Miles is pretty happy with his life overall, he absolutely wants to make sure his children are able to be more responsible than he was, and that includes being able to not only see the risks of certain situations, but being able to defend themselves. Lark Robinson [Daughter] Caesar Salad Robinson [ Dog] Caesar Salad is Miles' closest friend and companion. Not only is he well-trained and obedient (and able to do more than a few tricks), most important is the fact that he seems to know when Miles is sad and needs someone to jump up on the couch and lay on top of him. Long walks with Caesar make up most of the time Miles spends out and about outside of work, and force him to actually practice some level of self-care on days when he otherwise wouldn't bother. All in all, he's grateful for Caesar's efforts, because even if he's really just a dog doing dog things it's kind of exactly what he needs.

Gift - Stellar Healing
The ability to draw energy from light and use it to energize or heal oneself or others.
Lucas' gift allows him to heal himself or others with energy drawn from light, or to re-energize them. He can't generate his own light, so is reliant on a pre-existing light source, and using it requires intense focus and concentration. Though using his power takes a lot of energy right now, one day it will be easier as he learns to balance giving and taking energy from himself to others. If his concentration is broken, he suffers several side effects, chief among them nausea, hallucination and, usually, loss of consciousness.
Personality
Lucas is nervous, anxious and shy. He rarely speaks unless spoken to, often fidgeting with his sleeves or his glasses as a nervous tic. Reliant on schedules and plans, he dislikes being thrown off, but he's usually too anxious to say anything about it. A bit of a doormat, and extremely polite. He dislikes the unknown, preferring to stick to what he can understand and plan for. Still, he's loyal to his friends and his family and he does try his best to be kind and do the right thing where he can. He's the type who works in the background, and would rather someone else publicly get the credit for his achievements rather than have attention focused on him.
Appearance
Lucas is almost identical in appearance to his father at his age: small, fair-skinned, with messy blonde hair, violet eyes and crooked glasses that are taped at the side. When not in uniform (which isn't very often), he dresses in suit shirts and sweatervests, dress pants and slacks, trying to look more mature than he is. He often wishes he were invisible, and strives to blend in with the crowd as much as possible to achieve that effect.

Annalise Robinson [Mother]
When it comes to his mother, Lucas knows only what can be gathered from his father's stories, videos and photo albums. Mostly he wonders if she'd be proud of him, in some way, of the kind of person he is or the things he does. He's not sure he wants to know the answer.
Miles Robinson [Father]
Much like his feelings toward his mother, Lucas often wonders if his father is proud of him. Sure, he says he is, but it's kind of his job to do that. Still, despite his concerns he does love his father, and tries to show that where he can; with father's day cards and carefully picked out ties and following the rules he puts in place.
Stella Robinson [Twin Sister]
Lucas admires Stella, mostly because she's everything he isn't. She charges headfirst into the unknown with a smile on her face, and she almost seems to light up the world around her; whereas he's anxious and he tends to hesitate and find himself unable to act. To him, it often feels like his very presence makes the room he's in darker. He can't resent her for anything, though, she's always defended him and encouraged him to try new things. So he tries to take her advice when he can, and when her own plans fail he tries to help her fix them again.
Lark Robinson [Sister]
Prince Charming [Dog]
Originally, Prince had been meant to be a family pet; after all, with four people each having their own just wasn't realistic. Then Prince turned out to like Lucas more than the rest of them from the moment he was named: he was friendly toward the other members of the household, sure, but it was only Lucas he would listen to, and it was Lucas' bed he slept at the end of every night. Lucas returns this loyalty with his own, mostly in small ways: taking his friend for walks even if it's dark outside, sneaking him table scraps and generally showing him affection.
