Fern joined Beata at 15, and was quickly sorted into the Spring class, joining the dorms at school. She recently moved to Rivers Pointe with her mother, Katka, and sister, Basil. Her family's pockets were never full, and with the death of her father, Cedar, life in the Rose District slums was all they could afford. None of this was new to Fern though. Poverty was all she had known from a very young age. Before their life at Rivers Pointe, Fern's family survived by doing side jobs, and helping where they could. Due to Fern's power, she never had to eat as much as her mother or sister did, and usually left the food to them. It became apparent to the girl that life here wasn't for pansies, Fern was raised on street smarts, and knew now to distinguish a thief from a murderer. A knife was always in her back pocket everywhere she went. There came a time when she did, in fact have to use it. Resulting in a murder of her own, leaving Fern with a track record, and a world of regret and pain. Now she and her family reside at Rivers Pointe. Fern was accepted into Beata Academy, and strives to do well in school, wanting to someday be able to support her family with her education.

Personality

The amount of emotional trauma that clutches to Fern's mind would be enough to put any normal person on their knees. Killing a man is no easy feat, and once accomplished, can ruin a soul. Fern carries her burdens through the halls of Beata Academy, constantly forcing herself to remember her crimes. The girl has strong morals of right and wrong, with little gray area to spare. She sees herself entirely in the wrong, seeing as there is no redemption for her sins. Because of this, Fern often views herself as an invisible vessel, stripping away her privilege to converse with the other "good" people around her. She is wildly curious about other's lives, finding herself in awe of their great achievements, often stopping to stare at their resolves. But Fern can't bring herself to hold a conversation with her peers, perhaps because of her guilt, or perhaps because of her awkwardness. Even if Fern wanted to make friends, she often stumbles over her words, and misses social ques. Instead, she opts to carry several plants around with her, wherever she goes. According to Fern, plants are the purest form of life, and she relates to them, literally and figuratively. Before the trauma had smashed Fern's resolve, she had dreams of getting closer to those around her, she wanted badly to experience love, not the surface-based physical kind, but the deep emotional kind. To Fern, experiencing someone's soul is the greatest honor to ever exist. But forgiveness for herself is rare, if only she could stumble across it.

Appearance

Fern Belladonna sits at five feet, four inches. She is somewhat underweight, with thin arms and torso. Her green hair is usually cropped short, but will grow incredibly fast due to her powers. Interestingly enough, the usual vivid green tinge of Fern's hair signifies health, and it will fade to a yellow or brown if she becomes sickly or ill, much like a plant. Fern descends from Asian ancestry, with pale skin and a thin frame. Her pupils are hazel, and can often be seen under black eyeliner that she opts to wear. Her bangs tend to drape over her eyebrows, but oftentimes can be seen swept to the side. For clothes, she will usually dress in layers. Fern gets cold very easily, and can often be witnessed wearing a thick coat on chilly spring mornings. When the sun is shining bright, she will usually dress down to just a tank top and some shorts, wanting to catch all of its rays, as she uses them for nutrients.
