SOFIA DISTRICT - Guardians are investigating after a young boy was killed on Tuesday in an apparent gift-related incident, possibly a result of power discharge from another student.
It happened just after 3:30 PM on 1500 Felix Drive while returning home after school to his Aurum District neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found a 9-year-old boy suffering from severe burns. He was transported to the General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Investigators have yet to identify the victim, who was a student at Liberi Academy. His death is being treated as an accident.
Liberi principal Julia Ridley released a statement Wednesday in the wake of the fatal encounter, calling the situation an "unthinkable tragedy."
