'You must be tired after the trip - rest up these days before classes start.'
Exhilarating, to not follow instructions. He had never felt more independent or alive. Although this display of independence must've seemed pretty minor, to anybody watching. Just another pasty teenager kicking his soccer ball around, following it as it bounced off walls, then kicking it again for good measure. Every sound echoed off the tall walls of the gymnasium, every skid of his trainers against the floor screeching back at him. He'd never been in such a large room in his life, and the space made him restless.
Part of him wanted to recommend he practiced phasing in this new, spacious enviroment, but an overwhelming part of him just wanted things to be normal for once. To run around, ordinary and pointless. Perhaps without realizing, he began falling into it mechanically, his mind somewhere far away as he ran. That until the opening of the door startled him, the ball bouncing off the wall and into his chest with enough force to send him back a step, feeling the space in-between his ribs and waiting for the air to return.
After a couple of weak, wordless motions of his mouth, he managed to conjure up words. "Hey, hello!" he called, a tad bit too... excitedly? Likely.
