Some Side Party [c] Empty
PostSubject: Some Side Party [c]   Some Side Party [c] EmptyMon Jan 14, 2019 4:48 pm

The kids would be fine, or that's what he kept on telling himself anyways.

Preston was on a slow crawl back to his house. He'd taken the slower route, knowing full well that every block from here to the edge of town would be filled with teens driving their old cars uncertainly up to the school's campus, or driving some rental they picked up, riding in some thirty-foot limousine with all their friends; or whatever the kids thought were cool these days. (God, he sounded so old...)

After dropping Jackson and Idyn off at their mothers to get ready, he tried not to linger. He'd stayed long enough to see Idyn in her dress and Jackson in his finest tux, old tie loaned from his old man, and he was happy for them, but at the same time he'd felt so on edge. As well as they got along when the kids were gone, there was no denying that strange, tense air between him and his ex-fiancee. And that wasn't even mentioning Cailin - who'd insisted on getting ready all on her own... which stung, admittedly...

There was a lot on his mind. You couldn't blame him for fucking up once and a while.

It'd happened so fast. Some dumb kid was rushing across the street to meet his friends. The car in front of him screeched to a halt and Preston, cruising just bit too close in his eagerness to get home, hit the breaks a moment to late. His front-end make a disgusting crunch, and he felt himself fly into the seat belt.

"SHIT."

His knuckles had turned a ghostly white on the grip of his steering wheel and he forced himself to take a deep breath. He made a reality check. So, he'd just rear-ended one of the nicest looking cars he'd ever seen. No big deal. Just pull to the side, apologize, and ... hopefully shit wouldn't blow up in his face?

As Preston took his car to the curb, he could only imagine some old, fat stuffy CEO or something puffing up at him. Or some high-nose guardian. PTA mother maybe, with venom nails? The possibility were endless. Never the less, he managed to put the engine off and step outside of the car, throwing his hands up and talking before they even stepped out.

"Look, I am so sorry, I'm having a kind of shitty day - " He said, peering over to their end to see the damage. "I fucked up."

Fucking kids.

The streets were packed with young teens parading their fancy dressed and hand-me-down suits as they blocked and clogged the major roads of Rivers Pointe more affluent neighbourhood. With a deep groan, Elaine waved at the driver, her cold gaze staring out of the tinted windows. "Find some back road to get to the house," the woman barked. Without a word the man nodded, flicking the blinker on and shifting the car away from the main roads. While she knew it would take longer than before to get to her new home, it was better than stopping every few minutes for some overly eager child who rushed across the street towards their friend's car.

Henry wasn't even attending the Winter Formal, why was she still stuck in this drab town for the season? Didn't the school have some sort of winter break? She turned down a new leading role after hours of his incessant begging for her to come to the school with him. And more hours passed of him begging her to stay for the holidays. Of course, the little brat had convinced his father to do just the same. Grinding her teeth, she rested her head in her hand and rubbed the bridge of her nose between carefully manicured fingers.

While her attention was dragged towards her frustration and boredom in this city, a young boy flashed in front of the car, shocking the driver into slamming on the brakes. Not even 10 seconds later, something rammed into their rear, knocking her head forward and her breath caught in her throat.

The woman wore a shocked expression as she turned to see a car turn from the crash onto the curb. "Fucking idiot..." she huffed under her breath before shaking her shoulders and reaching into her purse for a pair of sunglasses. She wasn't against publicity, but not when she was ready to curse someone out until they cried on the floor.

Her hand curled around the door handle when the driver came walking forward, his voice only barely audible behind the windows. Dropping her glasses to the edge of her nose, Elaine peered through the tint at the man, her mouth pulled into a tight line.

She pushed the door open and slid her legs out of the car. Her heels connected with the pavement with a loud click as she stood tall and pulled her sunglasses off. She took a quick glance at the damage and turned back to Preston. "No harm done," she purred. The woman dropped her disapproving expression, replacing it with a sympathetic smile. "It's our fault for stopping so suddenly. I take all of all of the responsibility."

"Why don't we exchange information? It's only right that I take care of any car maintenance for both of us."
This dude was goddamn hot. And she dated Ezra Miller.

She'd be the fucking idiot if she didn't abuse this situation.
