Brief Description of Gifts:
Psychometry - Kaoru has the ability to obtain historical memories or sensations of beings and objects that she observes. In doing so, she is able to learn the creators, the users, and what has been done to it; with people, it gives her a general history of their lives. Her ability lets her learn skills from other people (including language), understand the mechanics of something instantly, figure out connections & process them quickly, and understand someone without the need of a long-term relationship.

Notes:

Although she originally lived in Hakone, Japan in a family of Blanks (who have no history of gifts), Kaoru moved to Rivers Pointe recently when she met a former Beata Alumni (Tabitha Weiss) who deduced that what was believed to be her natural genius was actually a gift. Her relationship with her family is very strained in the first place, and because she wanted to live independently, she severed her ties with them as well.
Even without her power, Kaoru actually has photographic memory and efficient logical reasoning. It was born out of her love for mystery novels/games along with a long-running tradition of detectives in her family (that her father broke). She had temporarily been an apprentice under her uncle before moving to Rivers Pointe. In the future, she wishes to be a detective as well.
Her gift is currently only usable when she traces a V over the object or person with her finger. Though it was a nervous habit (and a habit she uses when thinking), it came to be the way to manifest her powers. On a person, she typically prefers tracing it on the surface of their palms. Kaoru isn’t very fond of using her gift for much of anything though, even if it would make her life easier.
Extremely high metabolism with an iron stomach. Eats way more than someone of her stature should be eating without having any real issues, though it’s more often than not, stress-eating. She’s a closet gamer on the inside, though she rarely has time to play nowadays.
